There are several Alexander/Elizabeth Stevenson entries on the 1901 census so you will need to provide some further info
How old were they on the 1900 marriage cert
Where was Elizabeth born
-
Alexander was 21 and Elizabeth said she was 23 but she was born 1874.
-
Where was Elizabeth born (see reply above)

firthview, just ideas for research...
Leaving aside finding them in 1911, for a moment (which would obviously help ::)), given that you struggle to find them later, always a possibility that Alexander died young such as in WW1 and Elizabeth remarried.
How did Elizabeth show as witness in 1918, Stevenson or McLeish?
For example, there is death for an Alexander Stevenson on 7 Dec 1917. Born in Edinburgh and serving with the The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment)/16th Batallion (Regimental Number 19101). No further details unfortunately that I can see to help identify him so far. Can't see this death registered on www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead.aspx?cpage=1 :-\
As a further possibility, there is a marriage in Edinburgh for an Elizabeth McLeish in 1918. I haven't viewed the search result so don't know the groom's surname for this entry or anything else. Just ideas really for you to consider...

I will check that marriage out,she signed her sister Catherine Watsons death cert july 1918 as Elizabeth Stevenson.
-
It was not my Elizabeth, but it was her cousin that married in 1918.Every little bit helps.
-
Just in case it helps...what were the parents' names for Alexander Stevenson and Elizabeth McLeish?

Elizabeths parents were John McLeish and Mary Clark,Alexanders parents were John Stevenson and Henrietta ( Melville) I think as the writing is not great on the cert.
