James Steel, born in 1885 Brampton and died in 1947 married Jessie A M Graham in 1912 in Brampton, she died in 1966
Checking the free bmd for any children, I came across no children born in Brampton, both James and Jessie lived there all their lives.
Did they have any children?

Is the death for James Steel address Border View Gelt Road Brampton died 22/8/1947 at the War Memorial Hospital Brampton Probate Carlisle 17/9/1947 to William Steel Bell post office worker ..Effects £253.2s.6d ?
His army records with his discharge date 7/11/1914 lists father Ephriain Steel as his next of kin address 93,Main Street Brampton Cumberland ....don't see any mention of other family
1966 Probate for his wife Jessie Alice Mary Steel of 13, Carlisle Road Brampton Cumberland died 20/8/1966 Probate Carlisle 13/10/1966 to Geoffrey Studholme Cartmell solicitor no family mentioned
Like you could not see any family for this couple

Hi Simon,
As I have suggested to you previously, it is always best to keep the information on one particular family on the same thread. James Steel is the son of Ephraim Steel who you already have a thread for. You could have added this request to that thread, it then makes it easier for people who are checking records for you to see what has gone before and you would quite probably be finding a lot more information that way and work out the relationships. Instead of bits here and bits there, jumping from one branch to another.
If you look at the census for Ephraim Steel in 1871 with his parents (John Steel and Sarah Harris) and siblings - you will notice an Eleanor Steel.

Quite possibly Eleanor Steel (the sister of Ephraim) married William Bell and had a son William Steel Bell in 1895. William Steel Bell (mentioned in the probate) would have been the cousin of James Steel.
Family are in Brampton on the 1901 Census

Geoffry Studholme Cartmell was his solicitor so no reason for you to know the name as he wasn't part of the family, just the executor of the will.
