James Shayler married Mary Ann Wilks [Wilkes] 1912 in Leafield
I'm seeking info on their ages, occupations and parents details to enable me to search the correct people in the 1911 census.
Many thanks

Hi
To lookup a marriage - you have to know which church it took place in. Only fathers names are shown on marriage certs.
When and where did James die as his age will be on his death reg and if he died in or after 1969, his full date of birth will be shown
The free 1911 index only shows one possible entry in Oxfordshire for James - born 1872

Thanks for your reply Carole
Yep, I've seen a James born 1872 in the 1911 census but it's confirmation that this is the same James that married Mary Ann Wilks that I'm seeking.
There are too many trees on various sites that create connections by leaps of faith with no evidence apart from it 'looking right' - hence my seeking any paternal info for either bride or groom

I thank you again Nigel, it was so kind of you to supply this info.
It has enabled me to bridge the gap between census returns and parish records and confirm these people as the ancestors of an aged lady for whom I'm helping compile her tree
