Title: Alexander Malcolm Nicolson (1737-?) Sailed from Isle of Skye to Charleston, SC

My great x5 grandfather, Alexander Malcolm Nicolson, was born in 1737. After his wife died in Scotland, he left Skye for Charleston, SC with his 5 children (Alexander, Flora, Daniel b. ~1770-1856, Margaret, and John). Unfortunately, he died en route. I'd love to find any and all information on him, his parents, or anyone before that so I can better trace my history when I visit Skye. Thank you in advance!

I'd also love to know what boat he sailed on, if someone is able to find that. I've tried to no avail.
