Hi my grandfather was born in Tinwald Dumfriesshire in 1887 and married Jean Davidson.
I'm having trouble finding their marriage records and also their children of which I believe there was one called Alexander. Also I am looking for information on Matthew's brother Benjamin's children.
I cannot find where Matthew is buried but I do know where his wife Jean is buried.
Thank you
-
So do you believe that they wed in NZ or somewhere else (Scotland?)
Was Jean buried as a widow? (when & where)?
Where do you think Benjamin (brother of Matthew) resided/wed ? (NZ/ Scotland/ Other)?
Pauline
If scotland, then first call is scotlandsPeople (a pay site but good value)

Hi dmwheelers
You've identified Matthew and Jean HOUSTON as your grandparents, but have not specifically mentioned a New Zealand connection to them or their children ?? Is there indeed one ?
[As shown previously, the Matthew HOUSTON who died in New Zealand in 1951, appears to have had a wife named Frances (Fannie) and a child b.c. 1913, named Matthew. ]

Would suggest you go back to your thread ^ above.
On it, someone has supplied a reference (+ link) to an earlier thread (by "carrbridge" ) which appeared on the New Zealand board. It gives information about Benjamin HOUSTON and his wife Jean Adam HOUSTON.
