My Irish Grandmother b Nov 1883 travelled to Quebec on the Vancouver of the Dominion Line May9-May18 1895. She was only 11 but on the passenger lists she is quoted as 20. I can find no other familiar name she could have travelled with but there is a scrawl of a bracket down the side that says 'for Rev Mr Foyle' or similar. She lived in Dublin so someone had to get her to Liverpool for the ship and she is the only passenger listed for Detroit.
Were groups made up for travelling together? Any bright ideas appreciated!
Incidentally immigration records in Quebec declare her as 12 years old and names the Aunt she went to - I knew where she went - and a family member would have collected her I am quite sure.

It sounds like she has come here under the British Home Children scheme. I looked at the passenger list and it has a party under Mrs. Joyce.
What was your grandmother's name?
