I am trying to find a George English born in 1839 in Rawcliffe Goole.
George marries a Ann Elizabeth Dearing in 1861 in Thornton by Pocklington.
In 1881 he is living in 20 Arthur Street York with his wife and children.
After this i cannot find him.
Any help would be appreciated.

Bit of a twist in 1891 some of the children are living in Stockton with a Joseph Andrews and Martha his wife.
Martha is 48 and born in Melbourne Yorkshire the same place as Ann(george's wife]
-
Son, Arthur has military record, joined Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) in 1889, discharged 1890, he gave next of kin details : Father: George. Mother: Anne. Brother Walter. Living at Lowther St, ?gate, York.

She marries Joseph on the 17th march 1894 in Burnley and it says she is a widow.
So where is George in 1891?
Also where would i get Arthur's military records from or how would i view them on the internet.
I still think that George was alive in 1891 its just finding him.
And who was Joseph Andrews?
-
when Louis/Lewis English marries Margaret Ann Swain in 1907 in Burnley he says his father is George English, deceased, a farmer. Witnesses David Walter English and Mary Jane Swain
-
His daughter Lavinia marries in November 1891 and it says father George English Teasel grower.
Then in March 1892 his son George Henry marries and it says the same thing.
-
Joseph Andrews and Joseph Hazelhurst are two different people, as the latter and son Charles (with them on 1901) and daughter Nellie b c1880 are lodging in Warrington. Joseph is listed as married.

Hi on FindMyPast is a Short Service record of an Arthur English b Cottonmouth, York aged 18 occ Labourer 12th March 1889 in the West Yorks Regiment Regiment No: 2416
Does not look to be your Arthur, but bear in mind not all records survive or have been transcribed?
As to George died prior to 1894 etc

I have looked for George's death for a number of years but with no success. I think i will have to trawl through them again. Maybe this time i might get lucky.
It seems a bit of a puzzle to me.
-
Is there a Cottonmouth in Yorkshire.
I still think that the military record could be Arthur's.

Just looked at it again about page 3 it mentions parents George and Ann and a brother Walter (4) at 35, Lowther Street, York
Wondering if it was Cockermouth, as mention of Cumberland on record?

;D Must read whole thread again, see you were already supplied this!

I know it has been along time regarding this post but i have just had a closer look at Arthur English's service record. It looks to me where it says Father George English it says address is either Queenland or Cumberland.
I just need someone to verify it for me.
Thanks reedy
