Hi Dave
If memory serves me right you talked about these Duffy's before, possibly on a few threads.
I think mainly in relation to Batchelors Walk.
Can you please post links to the others to save people duplicating research.
Thanks
Tara

Hopefully this will help anyone whom wishes to help you again ;D
I may have missed some threads OR duplicated them :o

Have you got Margarets fathers name
Irish Genealogy shows
A William Gardiner marrying Honor or Norah Lynam in St Michans in 1882.
The following Censuses show what appears to be them.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/North_City/Masons_Market/1333172/
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/North_Dock/Upper_Tyrone_Street/1329900/
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/North_City/Chapel_Lane/51223/
A widow in 1901 and married in 1911 ???
-
No don't no her fathers name just her kids
..
-
From what I've been told one of them.was knocked down by the free state army in dublin
But not sure if it was margaret herslef or one of the kids
The name nora was mentioned
-
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYX9-KTY
suggest you get the above marriage cert which matches with Margaret Gardiner for her fathers name and address if you wish to proceed further.
-
Can I order it on line
-
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=599538.msg5032021#msg5032021
Have a read of this re ordering certs.
-
If thats the right Gardiner family i gave you on the censuses, check out the prison register for William Gardiner born circa 1851/5 Gloucester Place might explain why Norah pretended ??to be a widow in 1901 also his son Patrick born Greggs Lane and a William Duffy born Abbey St ?
-
Do u no what he was in jail for?
-
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Awilliam~%20%2Bsurname%3Agardiner~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1851-1857~&collection_id=2043780
You still cant be certain that this is the right family without the marriage cert for William Duffy and Margaret Gardiner.
Norah or Honor Gardiner on the 1901 census is telling porkies with her age as she was married in 1882 she would have to have been at least 20 years old getting married bringing her date of birth back to 1862 or before with a possible birth on Irish Genealogy of 17 Nov 1858 for Honora Lynam dtr of Patrick Lynam and Maria Russell at 2 Belvedere Court.
As regards William Duffy
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Awilliam~%20%2Bsurname%3Aduffy~%20%2Bbirth_place%3A%22abbey%20st%22~&collection_id=2043780
I dont know when or where he was born but one of his court appearences is for absence from his majestys army.
-
Perhaps the William Duffy living in 10 Upr Tyrone St in 1909 born 1890 is more likely him as thats the same address for William Gardiner in 1909.https://familysearch.org/search/collection/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Awilliam~%20%2Bsurname%3Aduffy~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1888-1892~&collection_id=2043780
-
My grandfather was william duffy born march 1890 dublin isthis him u are talkn bout???
-
If its the same william.duffy were talkn about he was in the dublin fusiliers in ww1
..never heard anyting bout him.been in prison
Family story I did here was about nora gardiner been knocked down by a van been driven by the free state army
.. not sure how tru this story is
-
If the William Duffy in 1909 living in Tyrone St is your grandfather it is unlikely he spent time in prison as the offence was loitering he probably only got fined.
This would have been the year before he got married, what i was trying to do was show you the connection between the address for the Gardiner family and William Duffy perhaps where they met.
As i said earlier without the marriage cert you have no idea if these are the right people.

Cheers was wondering where this was all going
. My grandfathers wife died young anyway
. He remaried in 1936 ..
