Hi Chris
Do you have this information from the marriage licence of William
William Wilson, servingman, aged 24 & Sarah Gilbert, a minor aged 16, both of Little Carlton with the consent of her father, William Gilbert of South Muskham, farmer. (said William Gilbert was bondsman)
Oct 13 1768

Hi both,
Thanks very much for your information,
So I have John & Eizabeth with the correct family as per Johns will with children at Edingley, probably moving to Farnsfield where Elizabeth died, and according to his will, so did John, I wonder where he was buried, and also can we trace their marriage ?
The Caunton baptisms to William & Sarah, I had some of but it has confirmed Catherine and Christopher for me, Robert I did not know, he was not mentioned in Williams will whereas the others were, he possibly died pre 1803. Also in the seqiuence of children in Willliam Wilsons will, seemingly by age , there were 2 later children, John and Joseph but their baptisms not listed
Thanks for all this, I shall pursue the new information, may be back with another query though !!

Hi,
A follow up query to this is that I also found a will of a Thomas Wilson died 1797 Farnsfield with the will written in 1792.
Beneficaries in this were wife Sarah Wilson and children, Mary Hill, John Wilson, Millicent Cordwell, Ann Clarke, Thomas Wilson,Richard Wilson,Samuel Wilson an Frances Wilson (Daughter)
Could this be the father of John , John seemingly having been born pre 1720 from his children
Can we find any clues from any BMD`s you may have access to

A few Farnsfield burials
14.2. 1797 - Thomas Wilson
9.1. 1786 - Sarah Wilson wife of Thomas
4.9. 1777 - William Wilson son of Thomas & Sarah
29.6. 1742 - Elizabeth Wilson, spinster
There is a marriage 26.2. 1787 Thomas Wilson & Sarah Wogden, which could have been Thomas's second marriage.

Hi Chris,
I'm new to the site. It looks like we're researching the same Wilson family. My connection is via William Wilson (b. 1786), son of William (1744-1803). I was wondering where you found the will for John Wilson you mentioned as I'd love to be able to get hold of a copy too... with thanks, Ed
-
Hi Ed,
Interested to see your connection, I am descended from Mary Wilson 1779, sister to your William 1786.
There are some questions on the family which maybe we could communicate directly on, hence I will also send you a personal message.
I can include the information of John Wilson will in that

I too may have an interest in this. I have a Samuel Wilson married at Farnsfield 1799, died there in 1847 aged 74. He's also given as 65 in 1841 census. I have not so far been able to track his birth, but your reply #6 offers a clue. I have an old version of the NFHS CDs, but Farnsfield was not then included. I've noticed that some others of the childen you list from Thomas's will don't seem to appear in available birth indexes. Does anyone have a later set of NFHS data, which does now apparently include Farnsfield ? If so could the children of Thomas be checked ?

I think I'm looking at 1773 +/-5. Problem I have is the most likely baptism (on age / date grounds) is Blidworth, 1773, son of James and Elizabeth but there is a second baptism 1778 Sutton in Ashfield, parents also James and Elizabeth, though no intervening burial. So 2 families with same names for mother & father or a missing burial? Also my Samuel named his first 2 children Thomas & Sarah. I am unable to trace christenings for many of those Chris names as children of Thomas & Sarah, but have found marriages for Millicent (1775, Egmanton) and Ann (1790, Farnsfield).

There exists a silver salver donated in 1698 by William Wilson (Gent.) to the Parish of Hockerton. It is church property and may be quite valuable but may be of interest to the family.
I wish to have no involvement other than to bring it to your attention.
Reply if you wish to express an interest and I can send a photo.
Best wishes, JP
