I am trying to discover what became of the family of William Harry who married Kitty Bullon/Bullen 6 Sep 1834 St Stephen in Brannel.
Unless mistaken I believe the family including children Christianah,William Henry and John were living Hornick in 1841.
I have not been able to find them in 1851 but have noticed Kitty Hary a widowed charwoman aged 42 living at Brays Place in 1861.
I am hoping to find them in 1851 ( ie the family ) although William may have died 1853 Carvath ??
What became of the children.Variations of the name Christianah possible.
With thanks.

Here's a possible for 1851 St Austell transcribed as Harvey.
William 40 tin miner
Ketty 34
Christiana 16 kelp? maker
William 14 errand boy
John 10
Helen 3
-
Harvey again I'm afraid :-\ but there's a marriage St Austell Sep 1858
Christiana Harvey to Thomas Stephens
-
Possible for Helen in 1861 (purely because she is granddaughter of Thomas Bullen and you mentioned Kitty was a Bullen)
Thomas Bullen 70
Mary Bullen 66
Joseph Bullen 40
Ellen Rebecca Harvey 13
Again we have Harvey so I don't know if this is leading up the wrong path.

Thank you Milliepede
This is looking very positive.
The surname should definitely be Harry.
Not impossible incorrectly transcribed as Harvey.
The ages appear to fit.
William died 1853 I think.
Helen is an extra child but likely .
Do you recall specific locations as I found Kitty living alone in 1861.Christiana would have been at a marriageable age by 1858.
I think you might have cracked it.
Thanks

Hi Rex
I did look at the original and the name looked more like Harvey than Harry plus, if that is the correct marriage for Christiana, the name is Harvey on the index.
I'll see what else I can find.

Edgecumbe? Row St Blazey 1861
Thomas Stephens 24 copper miner born Lostwithiel
Christiana Stephens 21 born St Blazey
John B son age 2 born St Blazey
That Christiana is still around in 1911 same place but widowed. Not certain she is yours without seeing who her father was. One child who has died :(
-
Helen age 3 in the 1851 Census is likely Ellen Rebecca who is with her Grandparents in 1861
Name is mistranscribed often it seems;
Name: Ellen Rebecca HARRIS
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 3 Jun 1849
Birth Place: St. Austell, Cornwall, England
Father: William Harris
Mother: Kitty Harris

1871 Edgcumbe Row St Blazey
Thomas Stephens 34 butcher
Christiana 31
John B 12
John Briton Stephens baptism 19 Dec 1860 Par Cornwall

Address for Ellen as grandchild looks like Carwath? Lane St Austell.

Thanks again Milliepede
Still looking positive.
I am in Australia and not very familiar with Cornwall locations but think St Blazey in same general location.
Quite likely they were illierate which might explain different spelling.
I propose looking at OPC site as a double check.
Any sign of a death/burial for Kitty.
Could Kitty be a variation on Catherine.
Thanks

William Henry possible.
1881 age 43 born St Austell working as a drapers assistant in Marylebone London
1891 age 53 born St Austell as above

Milliepede
The burial 13 Jan 1853 for William Harry was Carvath. Sounds like location you mention.
Thanks

Could Kitty be a variation on Catherine.
Funny enough I had an Aunt called Kit and her second name was Kate so yes Catherine would fit with that.
Does this one fit age wise - death St Austell Dec 1875 age 81
or there is one in Penzance Sep 1865 no age but both under Kitty Harry.

Thanks again Milliepede
Your finds for John are likely matches.
I think he was baptised 1841 St Stephen in Brannel.
William Henry was baptised 25 Feb 1837,so suggestions 1881 and 1891 fit.
Thanks

William Henry Harry the draper is back in Cornwall 1901 age 63 with a wife (he was single in London) Emma H Harry 51.
Possibly this marriage in Marylebone Dec 1895

Possible for Helen in 1861 (purely because she is granddaughter of Thomas Bullen and you mentioned Kitty was a Bullen)

Good morning all.
Some more water has passed under the bridge since I last wrote.
I can now confirm that Christiana d/o William Harry and Kitty Bullon did not marry Thomas Stephens as suggested but instead she married William Burrows in 1853.
This means that the 1861 and 1871 Census data from St Blazey does not apply.
I have found her in 1871,1881 and 1891 married to Thomas Stephens.
Brother William Henry became a linen draper and have now found him through to 1901 when he is likely to have returned home to Cornwall.
He was with his sister Christiana in 1871 and had previously been found in Marlebone in 1881 and 1891.I think he had married Emma Crowe late in life.
I also had another great find with Helen/Ellen Rebecca.
There was a mystery grave at St Austell which I can now identify as belonging to her.
She died 23 Oct 1873 St Austell and was buried 3 days later.
An inquest was held into her death at the Glebe Hotel. The church authorities had not been previously able to resolve details.
I very much appreciate your help.

1851 census Ipswich
Robert Crowe 56 shipwright
Sarah Crowe 54
John Crowe 18 shipwright
Edward Crowe 13
Thomas Crowe 11
Emma Crowe 9
all born Ipswich It seems that Emma was a bit economical with her age on marriage info ! Free BMD has a Sept 1842 birth in Ipswich for Emma Crowe,
Familysearch has
Emma Harris Crow bap 25 Sep 1842 Suffolk, b St Clements Ipswich, Suffolk
son of Robert Moore & Sarah Crow
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N21G-7T5
Robert Crowe marries a Sarah Bagley at St Clements on 18 Aug 1824 , so Harris in Emmas name may be a grandparents name
-
Thanks Jan
By my calculation she was 53 when she married but declared 41.
I wonder if WHH noticed?

I hope the info I posted was of help also.
Good luck with it all :)
-
You certainly did thank you Trish.
All pretty much sorted now.Variations Harry/Harris and occasional Harvey caused havoc for a while.
Bullen/Bullon also.
Linking monument for Ellen Harry 1876 resolved a long standing puzzle.
The sort of thing that keeps us awake at night.
She was Helen Rebecca who died a young woman.I was able to read about the inquest.
Now I am trying to connect two distinct Harry families living in St Austell.
I can find a connection through marriage but thinking there must be a direct connection via earlier generations.
