I am trying to find any information I can on the Cheddie family. We came from Guyana but I am having a hard time finding any records. My granfather was Neville Cheddie and he was a police officer. He died in 1938. His father was Fredrick L. Cheddie and his mother was Julia. Does anyone know where I can search birth and marriage records from Guyana? Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Rootschat!
The Ancestry website has a messageboard/mailing list for those researching their Guyanan ancestors. Having a quick read of that, it would appear that records are only available in the actual country. There is also a British Guiana Genealogical Society (Google for their website).
I think you would do better transferring your query to that messageboard, or to the BGGS.
Good luck with your research!

Pennie & Nanny Jan,
Thanks for the information. I'm already a member of the ancestry site and have visited both the BGGS and GRO without much luck. I will keep searching!
