Title: Difficult to find on the census - John Thorp(e)

I am looking for a John Thorp(e) born 1840 in Normanton on the 1841, 1861 and 1871 census. I can't seem to find him. I have him on the 1851 census living in Mexborough. His father is Charles Thorp(e) and his mother is Charlotte Thorp(e). In 1879 John Thorp(e) married a Maria Ward - after that i can find the family in every census.

Please help!

Hi there, thank you for your reply. Yeah, I actually have this record for his parents and his brothers...but I can't seem to find John.

Thank you for that. That's one ticked off the list. I wonder where Charles Snr was? I do know he worked on the railways however - as this family is constantly moving.

Would you say that that birthplace is too far away from Penistone to be him?
