Hello there
Looking for information about this couple, apparently they are on the City Directory for Vermont; and on Seattle and Tacoma, Washington Passenger Crew Lists of Airplane Departures 1947-1957.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Searching the St. Albans newspaper at http://www.genealogybank.com/gbnk/newspapers/explore/USA/Vermont/St_Albans/ for Muriel Porter, I can see a snippet of what looks like an obituary for William & Muriel's daughter from Feb. 1979 which says she was born New Zealand on Apr. 6, 1925.
It appears this is her burial - http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=41732854&ref=acom
And her death record - https://portal.maine.gov/death/archdev.death_archive.display_info?v_id=334206
A 1945 passenger list from Noumea, New Caledonia to San Francisco lists her as Valerie Gene Trombley, age 19, married, born Auckland, New Zealand, last permanent residence - Auckland, final destination - St. Albans, Vermont. Going to join father-in-law Roy Clifford Trombley, 116 Lincoln Ave., St. Albans. Her mother's name was Muriel Joyce Smith Porter, 48 St. Leonardi St., Epsom, Auckland, N.Z. It says she was admitted for permanent residence under Sec. 4-a, 1924 Act.

Thank you Shellyesq
Valerie's husbands name was Raymond Roy Trombley - he was the American Army. I assume they married in Auckland, but so far have only found the engagement notice.
Very grateful for your assistance.

You're welcome. An LPN is a licensed practical nurse.

That makes sense, they probably met when he was in hospital.
Thanks.

Hello, I am interested in the Smith side, Muriel was the daughter of Charles Herbert Smith, who was the brother of my great aunt's husband.
I am interested in finding out more about her and her family. I know she dies in Vermont in 1973, but not a lot else.
Very grateful for any info.

Hello Jan, probably not a lot I can tell you. I don't even have a photo of Muriel which I would love. Jack (William John) and Muriel move to the USA to be with their daughter Gene (Valerie Gene). There was also a son Athol Herbert who remained in NZ. I can send what I have on this section. If I PM I can add attachments? Regards Olwyn

yes I think so. Athol Herbert was named after Muriel's father I think - he was Charles Herbert. I will try oto find more about him from NZ. Did Muriel live in Seattle, coincidently my youngest daughter also lives there.

I don't believe Muriel lived in Seattle. I will try and find out more. I can see attachments here but not in pm. Information has living people so don't like to include it here.
