Hello all.
Are Irish electoral records available anywhere, preferably online?
My wife was born in 1937 in Milestown, Castlebellingham, County Louth.
The family relocated to Manchester later the same year and my wife would like to establish the address where she was born.
The family have no recollection of the address, above info from birth certificate. We wonder if her parents would be listed sometime during the 1920/40 period.

Electoral registers usually list eligible voters by address sometimes making it hard to find people without knowing the address or at least vacinity.
Perhaps the area library can help either by saying where registers might be located (don't know of any in Co. Louth that are online) or checking directories for the family.

I've looked at the books of Voter's Lists in the National Archive in Dublin (many years ago!), but when I go to their site I can't find the reference.
I do remember that they were books, not online, and I think had to be ordered up the previous day, as they were held in the Four Courts. Most, but not all counties were available

If that is the address on the birth certificate, that may be all there is or have I misunderstood something.

Irish birth certificates should always list the place of birth (used to be on left side with date, not sure about 1930s format) and if the family residence was elsewhere then that would be indicated under father's name & occupation. There might also be an address for the informant so be sure to check all the details. Certainly in 1930s home births were still quite common.

I just mean that all the houses in Milestown townland may just have that address - no individual addresses as there may be no need for that.

The birth cert says only Milestown for place of birth, father's address and informants (father) address.
Had a look on Google street view and there is very little there, just a factory and a couple of what could be modern housing cresents.
Anyway, i will follow through on a your suggestions.

Why not just look up the Surname for Co Louth on the 1911 Census??

What was her father's occupation when she was born?

If the family owned the property/house then the Valuation office may have records.

Hello all.
My father in law was a "Boot and Shoe Operative" on the birth certificate.
I have his 1901 and 1911 census', but he was with his parents and 14 yo in 1911.
My wife was 1 of 8 children, the first 6 being registered in Dublin, number 6 in 1930. My wife was number 7 and registered in Milestown and the youngest in 1939 in Manchester. So as you can see, the family relocated to Miletown sometime between 1930 an my wife's birth in 1937.
I am certain that the family did not own property, in 1901 my father in law, his 5 siblings and parents lived in one room in Dublin. I had a look at the valuation site but i think you have to visit in person, a bit difficult from New Zealand.
