John James EVANS was born on 4 Jul 1876 in Queens Street, Aberystwyth, the fourth child, but eldest son of John Evans and Maria Molineux.
He married Annie Agnes Clara Jones in 1900, and they had 4 children, the eldest being born in 1906.
I have John James' birth certificate and his marriage certificate.
I also have a date of his death on his headstone (which doesn't tie in with the actual facts, but I'm working on that)
I have John James in the 1881 and 1891 census, but I cannot find either him, nor his wife Annie on the 1901.
Its not that I NEED the entry, but its something I'd like just for completeness.
Any suggestions?

How about some locations to help us, D?
Where did the marriage take place? What addresses for the bride and groom? did they move before the first child was born?
Any idea what occupation he followed?
(and I still won't be able to find him, LOL!! ;D )
kind regards, Arranroots ;)

John James Evans married Anne Agnes Clara (Annie) Jones (born 29th August 1878 in Sion Row, Llanelly) in the june Quarter of 1900 (11b/53). The addresses given on the cert. were those of the 91 census - Aberystwyth.
They had 4 children
- Jack Evans b: 1906
- Rose Maria Clara Evans (Dolly) b: 1906
- Thomas Frederick Evans (Fred) (1910-1993)
- Reginald Evans (Reg)
John James started his working life as a printer, became a clerk and finally a journalist who worked for the Cambrian News in Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury. He is buried in Llanbadarn Churchyard.
The children Jack and Dolly were twins. They were either born in Aberystwyth or Oswestry. Fred and Reg were born in Princes St. Aberystwyth.
Annie died on 15th May 1943 at 23, Maesheli, Penparci, Aberystwyth
John James and Annie are buried in Llanbadarn Fawr cemetery, as is Dolly. Jack is buried in Aberdyfi, as his wife was from there. Reg emigrated to Oz. Fred died in 93, was cremated and has a memorial stone on his parents grave in Llanbadarn Fawr.
I have written to the Cambrian news for more info, but they were less than unhelpful.
Do your worst!! ;D It'll be better than I've managed.

I hate to admit defeat - but there are only so many hours in the day...
Really sorry, D
I think if I had all the time I would walk the streets around his parents home and see if he is lodging somewhere.
Tried England & Wales. Tried initials, transposed names, no names (!), looking for his wife...
I wonder if he was staying with an older sibling - do you know where they were? or with the in-laws?
Hope you find him

Tried looking for older siblings - seems they all married. Try looking for the right "Mary Evans" or "Margaret Evans" marriage.....
I've tried John, Jack, James, J., no joy.
By 1901 his inlaws are also in Llanbadarn cemetery. He didn't join them until much later.
Oh well, one to put away again for a rainy day.

Found them!
I checked on the BMD for the birth of their eldest child, and found he was born in Oswestry.
So I checked the 1901 ENGLAND census, and there they were.
Sorted.
