Thanks for the heads up on this, I've been amusing myself downloading copies of entries I'd previously only had the Trove newspaper announcements for and a few I didn't have the details for anyway. ;D ;D Its amazing just how may sidelines I have in Australia. ;)

Thanks for that. It has given me access to a couple of records I didn't have for my one and only convict ancestor. Still have to find out how he got from Tasmania to South Australia, once he got his ticket of leave.

I have just discovered this new Tasmanian Names Index today. How fabulous! Having previously spent hours looking at the images of parish records on Family Search (the old-fashioned way). Excellent work Tasmanian Archives!!!
Australia, Tasmania, Civil Registration, 1803-1933:
These sort of records are now available , where you previously had to find them sifting through images here:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2125029
"Civil registration of baptisms, births, marriages, deaths, and burials in Tasmania, Australia. Original records are kept in the Archives Office of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia".
Now you can find them instantaneously at Tasmanian Archives - Tasmanian Names Index.

Wow! :)

Yes it's a lot easier than trying to find them on familysearch. ;D ;D

And most of the convict records take you straight to the page you want! No more page turning. By the way there seems to be two concurrent threads running about this, but it spreads the good news for Tasmanian researchers.
The "how to" on YouTube is quite good too.
E.g. Press the orange house icon next to ALL FIELDS each time you want to do a new search
I think it is brilliant. More user friendly.

Debra also posted the information on the main board :)
