Title: Barwell Street?
Post by: j-allen on Thursday 02 October 14 17:06 BST (UK)
Can anyone enlighten me as to where Barwell Street was in Leicester?

On the 1911 census my great aunt and her family were living at number 10. I have looked on my old street map and also on a 1912 Kelly's directory listing streets but cannot find it. I even Googled it but to no avail.

As a lot of the family lived in the St. Leonard's Parish area I wondered if they did too.

So, I would be extremely grateful if someone can point me in the right direction.

Many thanks.

Old maps    www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html

Click on link - coordinates are     458737   305150

Main window will display current view of Leicester. Click on 1887 Town Plans to replace current view with 1887 view of that location.

To "zoom" click on main window (but not in box marked Enhanced view!).

Many thanks, I can see from comparing it with my street map where these streets were originally but have now obviously have been pulled down.

So as I see, they weren't too far away from Abbey Park where I was brought up.

Thanks again.
