Looking for information on Jane Walters from Moretonhampstead 1800 who may have been a horsebreaker. Married Churchward in 1840's

Hello & welcome.
Can you give us a bit more info.
What are you looking for?
Who did she marry?
Do you have her marriage details?
Have you found her on the census?

Hi Ian,
Finding it a bit difficult to negotiate this site.
Name I am researching is WALTERS (Jane) who married in 1842 in Buckfastleigh a William Churchward. When Jane married she had a young daughter who it would seem William adopted. This daughter was called Sophia Walters born 1840 but there is no name of actual Father anywhere (even on Sophia's wedding certificate). I would like to get a bit further back in Jane's family. I believe her father may have been called Philip (on Jane and William's marriage certificate) but I have no date of birth for him, or even a place of birth. Moretonhamstead seems to have been Jane Walter's place of birth. The word "horsebreaker" please read "housemaid" !!! The copy marriage certificate I sent for recently is very difficult to read.... I think the photocopy machine must have been playing up.
Sorry but although I have been doing family research for a number of years it is very new for me using a computer. I am a member of Ancestery.co.uk, but folks told me that this site is very informatative. ::) Regards Pam
