Post by: jom049 on Sunday 05 October 14 16:45 BST (UK)
I'm looking for records for the family name Ordidge / Ordidge / Oredidge in the Greasley Parish records prior to 1760. Thank you.

Hi,

The only marriage prior to 1760 I can find at Greasley, Notts is:-

John Ordidge = Ann Wright  12th January 1737/8.  He was of Greasley Parish she of Parish
of Sutton in Ashfield.

The above is from Phillimore Greasley Marriages Page 120.  You can see this for yourself:-

https://archive.org/stream/nottinghamshire05philgoog#page/n132/mode/2up.

The same marriage (transcript) also appears on www.familysearch.org, however they do not
give all the details.

Note the year, at this time, did not change until the March, but today we would give the date as 1738.

The first (and only) marriage I can find pre 1750:

1738 01 12   John   ORDIDGE   m   Ann   WRIGHT

Baptisms on the Notts FHS CD don't start untiil 1773 for Greasley, and there are no pre-1750 burials listed eitheer.

Thank you Spendlove and Annie65115, John could be a brother of my ancestor which may help me track down a birth.
