Title: Harry HADDEN Army Uniform
Post by: mickawinn on Thursday 09 October 14 15:32 BST (UK)
I cannot trace a service record for the above but have found a medal record so assume that his record is amongst the burnt records.
I attach a photo and wonder if there is anyone who can recognise the uniform.

Almost devoid of distinguishing marks but the buttons appear black, then possibly a regiment of the Rifles persuasion?

He may have been in one of the London Regiments (6th). Were they Rifles?

Next of kin named on the RFA file (1908-1911), presumably information given in 1908.

Mother Mary Ann 4 Whewell Road, Cornwallis Rd, Holloway
Brother Joseph 27 Lyndhurst Road, Thornton heath
Sister Beatrice (with mother)

In the 1891 census (21 Marcellus Road) there is a girl with a name that looks like Benjamin, born Islington circa 1882. I wonder if that is her - from a previous marriage?

Thanks. I have been trying to find Benjamin! Beatrice might be easier.

ShaunJ  Yes she married John Denny and I found her on the 1911 census.

Looks like her birth was registered as Beatrice Mary Benney q/e Sep 1882 1C 423. Ties in with death of Beatrice Mary Denny in 1976 (born 13 July 1882).

It's another mystery - if she is Harry's sister why is the birth registered in his mother's former name, 2 years after his parents married?

Mary Ann Benney nee UREN married William Joseph HADDEN 9th August 1880. He was a widower and she a widow although I can't find her previous marriage. Why the child born after the second marriage has been registered under her previous name I don't known. There have been a number off odd things in this family so this is just another mystery!

Ady and the others on this forum, I apologise but I have info for Ady and I know this isn't the right place but I don't know how else to contact a relative (it's taken me a while to find this place!)

Ady, 7 years ago you posted on a Yorkshire Indexers forum that you may be related to William Wade. That's my great grandfather.  I have a full genealogy if you are interested.  Please contact me on largelyhappy at hotmail dot com. And once more, apologies for an inappropriate posting.
