Hello any information would be appreciated on the Leighton family I've found a Eleanor Leighton 1851 census,she was born in the village but nothing earlier thanks :)

As KGarrad says, we really need a little more information to help you:

A few questions: According to the 1851 census, when and where was Eleanor born?  Was she living with her parents/husband/children?  Is Leighton her maiden or married name?

Tell us what you know about Eleanor, and if appropriate, I will move your query to the Northumberland board. ;)

I can see an Eleanor Leighton, born in Seaton Burn, on the 1861 census?

 Thanks but I know that Eleanor Leighton had a husband and two sons,I do know she was born in the village a friend of my late father done some research on the family history.eleanor was the only person on this census to be born in the village in 1851 so a bit of a dead end many thanks .  :)

Hi again, and incorrectly transcribed on my site as surname HIGHTON and Eleanor shown as Emma and aged 43 and not 53!

So, in the research that was carried out by your late father's friend did they find out when Eleanor & William married, to find her maiden name or possibly a Widow?



 The only possibly pre marriage for Eleanor I could locate to accomodate the son-in-law William Dixon aged 17 on the 1851 census was this one:-

William Dixon to Eleanor Nesbit 1st March 1835 Tynemouth

And this possible baptism for her:-

Eleanor Nesbit born 24th November 1809 christened 17th December 1809 Christ Church, Tynemouth Father James Mother Ann Hunter

 your information looks spot on to me, as joseph leighton had a daughter named mary dixon leighton born 1897,,, could you please look up james wife, and any children, i know he had a son william born 1886- 1887 nothing else.
i have josephs children .
