Title: How to tell if a Manchester marriage was 'registrar attended'
Post by: Joney on Friday 17 October 14 19:54 BST (UK)
I have seen replies ( by some more expert than me) who are able to tell if a marriage was registry office / registrar attended by the Volume / Page no on the index, so I'm hoping..........
The marriage in question is Manchester Sep quarter 1874 Vol 8d Page 451, Susannah Cullen marrying  William Harrop or John Lattin.
(Can't find it Lancashire OPC.)
Thanks in advance.

Hi Joney

If you have access to Ancestry you can see the actual register image filmed by them.

Thanks, everyone. I've only just started looking at the Cullens, so I'm still feeling my way. This is probably not  the marriage I'm after, so I think this question should be considered  completed for the moment. I need to check back through notes from years ago and spend time on the Lancs BMD site (a site I find awkward to use on my tablet and consequently avoid). Back to the old PC tomorrow morning.

Best wishes,
Joney

Hi
You might like to look at this web page to see if any of your Cullen's are there

http://gayandmike.co.uk/cullenpages.htm

The lady who did the research is from the Tameside Family History Society.

Thanks Heather,
It's still early days with this particular branch - 2nd wife of my great grandfather  ::) Found a note of a family story from years ago which has let me trace her line back another generation. Still exploring possibilities. Sat and grinned for five minutes when I found her parents'  marriage which tells me these Cullens were from  'Co. Clare, Ireland'.
Took me thirty years to find which county some of the others were from.
Oh, the joys of Irish reasearch !  ;D
