I really need help with this request because I have very little information to go on. I do not know when or where James Miller or his wife, Jenny Sykes, were born or married or died. My calculations have them born in the 1880s or 1890s. Both are interred in Saint Johns Norway Cemetery in Toronto. James and Jenny had a daughter named Elsie who married Arthur Pollard (Arthur was born in Toronto in 1911). Arthur and Elsie married probably before 1932. Both Arthur and Elsie are interred in MacNeill Cemetery in Brock Township, Ontario. Thank you in advance.

This is all great information and I am so grateful. Is there a 1911 census for the Miller family. In the 1901 census it showed a daughter Ellen L S A 6 years old but I can find no other information about her. SANDRA - you wrote that it looked like there were 5 daughters and named them. Emily Sarah was the first. Would Ellen L S A and Emily Sarah be one in the same? May I ask where you found this information?
-
Yes, they are one and the same.
Sandra
-
I wonder if Emily Sarah died and when the next baby was born they used the same name Emily as they often did in those days.

Hi,
James Miller's date of death from St. Johns Norway cemetery is more likely his date of burial. There is an obituary for him in the Globe and Mail, Dec 22 1943 edition, page 20.
James Miller died on Dec 21 at the Toronto Western Hospital. Husband of Jenny Miller. Father of Ellen (Mrs G Stone), Emily (Mrs A Roome), Florence (Mrs Frank Palmer), Marion (Mrs Fred Palmer) and Elsie (Mrs A Pollard). He was in his 71st year. Interment St. Johns Norway on the 23rd.

Same with Jenny.
Her obit says that she died in July 7, 1952 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Wife of the late James. Sister of Emily (Mrs Moore) of England. Mother of Ellen (Mrs Stone), Florence (Mrs Palmer), Marion (Mrs Palmer) and Elsie (Mrs Pollard). Burial at St. John's Norway on the 9th.
Daughter Emily isn't mentioned here.

Found Elsie Victoria Pollard's obit too, if you need her info :). She died on April 29, 2000 in Port Perry. Husband Arthur died in 1994. Children and grandchildren mentioned. Predeceased by sisters and their husbands Florence and Frank Palmer, Marion and Fred Palmer, Nellie and George Stone, Emily and Arthur Roome (England). She is buried in the McNeil Cemetery, Wick (this is in Brock Township... like you said in your initial post)
Arthur's obit says he died on Dec 11, 1994 in Port Perry. He is also buried in the McNeil Cemetery.

Would it be possible to uncover a date of marriage for Arthur Pollard and Elsie Victoria Sykes? As far as I know their first child was born in 1932.
-
Unfortunately nothing seems to be showing for that marriage :'(
Sandra

Thank you for trying.
