I last posted this search for my Gatens/Gattens/ Gaitens ancestors in 2011 and am hoping someone has some updated information on this family.
I am seeking information on the birthplace of James GATTENS/GAITENS/GATENS born Ireland.( I have no idea where ). He married Marjory MC AULEY in 1852 at ST John's RC Church Port-Glasgow in 1852. Marjory was born in Rathlin, Antrim, Ireland. Her parents were James MC AULEY and Margaret HORAN both of Rathlin.
According to James's death certificate his parents were Francis GAITENS and Catherine TRAVERS.
I have searched Scotlands people in the vain hope that I might find James's siblings or his parents. Also tried Irish websites without success.
Does anyone have access to the Rathlin Island Genealogy website or recognise my GATENS/MCAULEY names ?
