I have a death certificate for Quintin Dalrymple, died 28 Mar 1855 Garden Street, Wallacetown, Ayr, aged 73, a weaving and sewing agent, and buried in Wallace Town Burial Ground. He was married to Agnes McWhirter.
Is there an MI on his grave in the Burial Ground?
Many Thanks,
Mike Bridgeford

Hi,
There is a MI of Wallacetoun Burial Ground, held at Carnegie Library,Ayr,you can purchase a copy, the grounds are closed,if you wanted to gain access you have to contact South Ayrshire Council on 0300 123 0900,they were open a few days ago for ground work,I live 200 yards from there,if you are'nt local you could give me info and I can check in teh library for you.

Hi,
I have Kennedy ancestors who lived in Content Street in Ayr in the 1840s. Robert Kennedy was a shoemaker, born in 1804 and married to Helen Burnie (or possibly Birnie) born abt 1811 in Ayrshire . Robert was in Glasgow by 1851 and a widower. I can't find a death date for him or his wife on scotlandspeople and was wondering if Helen might be buried in Wallacetown churchyard - or perhaps Newton on Ayr?
I suspect times were difficult, and there might not be a headstone, but even a burial record would be helpful. Robert and Helen are my great-great-grandparents.

Hi Scully,
I also have ancestors who lived in Content Street, St Quivox and wondered if any of them might be in Wallacetown Burial ground. I didn't know there was such a facility. The name is Dick: Fullarton Dick who also was a shoemaker, his wife Christian m.s. Gray. Fullarton was a soldier in the Ayrshire Militia and died about 1825?? I would be very grateful if you could have a look when you have time. Thank you.

Hi Scully
I noted your earlier comment re 8 MI books for Ayr in your possession. May I presume on your kindness and ask if you would be so kind to check for an ancestor, namely John McCreadie who died at 9PM, 2nd August 1879 at age 31 years? The location and cause of death were recorded as “On board Ayr Harbour No. 1 tug boat” and “Crushed to death under the lever of an engine” respectively. John and family (wife and 3 children) resided at 8 Allison Street, Newton. Despite checking the MIs of three cemeteries in close proximity to Allison Street, I have been unable to locate John's final resting place.
Sincere thanks.

Many thanks for your effort on our collective behalf. Relations in both USA and Australia unable to locate. Although the practice of the time was burial in the Parish of birth (Ballantrae), Girvan Registry Office has no record of his burial in
Ah well, he search continues.

Hello Lacey_Black. I was interested to read your post re Fullerton Dick and Christian Gray, Did you mean to say they were married in1799? My Fullarton Dick & Christian Gray were married in Linlithgiow in 1799. I would love to know if we have the same ancestors. Look forward to hearing from you.
