Does anyone have the actual death certificate of John James Stanaway who died August 1874, in Toka Toka? I would like to see if his parents are named on the certificate. Thanks!

Hi
Unfortunately it wasn't until 1876 that parental details were recorded on New Zealand death certificates. :(
NZ BDM's timeline gives further information.

Hi, had been about to add same link as previous post.
It is probably worth "googling" his name also, as there seems to be quite a lot of information for the Captain ... and notes from other researchers.

Including a book about him............
"Tides of Time- Capt. John James Stanaway".
Not sure of the author but the book may still be available through Trade Me?
