I have the birth certificate for Ellen Nash born 9 Oct 1864, The Cleeve Seend
Her mother was Mary Nash of Seend; father's name not entered.
The marriage certificate with Ellen's marriage to William Charles Pow 28 December 1891 has her age as 22 years and her father's Name as William Nash.
Death certificate for Ellen Pow 22 July has her age as 72 years which makes her birth year as 1864.
I am seeking Mary Nash's birth as I have not found a possible one to date.
I have a notice with a baptism for a Mary Nash baptised in Seend 4 August 1839. - not sure where I became that information. :-\
Mary's parents being William Nash born 1796 in Seend and Harriet Newman born 1804 in Wootton Bassett.
Would these baptisms have been at the Methodist Chapel which later became a house?
Any help in finding the baptisms for any of the Nash Family would be welcome. :D

Hi
I see that Ellen seems to have lived with her grandparents in Seend until at least 1881, when William had died. Thus, I would hazard a guess that she gave William as her father at her marriage because she either thought he was or she used his name to avoid embarrassment.
The only time that I can see Mary clearly is on the 1851*, when she was 12 so born 1838-9 ish

I'm still not 100% sure that the 1838 one is Mary's birth reg, She may not have been registered as it wasn't a criminal offence until mid-1870s. Nothing so far in baptisms - C of E or non-c - but the records may not all be online. Do you know what religion they were?

I believe that their religion was Anglican, descendants are.
I had always thought that Ellen Nash's mother was Elizabeth until I bought the birth certificate earlier this year.

All the Nash baptisms are on the batch:

It seems that there was an Elizabeth b. 1843 who died in 1846.
(My in-laws come from that broad area but no Nashes !)
