Title: Irving family - unable to find after 1851
Post by: bigt on Wednesday 26 November 14 17:35 GMT (UK)
I am looking for any information on the following family that seems to have gone off radar after 1851 at Crossmichael, Kirkcudbrightshire.

William Grierson Irving, born 11 October 1802 at Mousewald, wife Margaret Clark born c1801 at Troqueer.  Children: John, born 1831 at Twynholm, James, born 1834 at Twynholm, Elizabeth born 1835 at Twynholm, and Moira Alston Irving born 1839 at Kirkcudbright.

In 1841 the family are at Burnside Nursery, Kirkcudbright.

In 1851 the family (minus John and James) are at Mollance Offices, Crossmichael, Kirkcudbrightshire.

William's occupation is given as gardener.

I've had a look for them, but for some reason cannot seem to find them.  Could have emigrated.

Thanks

Tom

Have you checked Scotlands People for marriages for the 2 girls - by 1861 they would be 26 and 22 respectively

Have you checked for deaths for William & Margaret?

Hi CaroleW

Yes, done the usual checks on Scotlandspeople.  Also checked MI's in the surrounding areas that are available online, on the chance someone died pre 1855 and may have a headstone.  Will re-check again on the offchance I missed something.
