Mary Ann Husk was baptised on 23 January 1820 in Fonthill Gifford to parents Thomas and Ann.
In the 1851 census, she is already married to James Bond (really!) living in Bond's Yard off Wincanton High Street. By 1861, they have moved to Silver street. In both entries, her place of birth is clearly "Fonthill Gifford". 1871 finds them in West Wittering, Sussex (Mary's birthplace = "Stop, Wiltshire" - there is a "Stop Farm" in the middle of the village) and twenty years later, they're still moving eastwards and are living in East Sutton, Kent and now she was born in "Hindon, Wiltshire" which is a ½ mile to the west of Fonthill Gifford.
I can't find any Husks in the 1841 census for Fonthill Gifford although a Google reveals a Maria Husk there as a servant in 1851.
So, dear Rootschatters, where were the Husks from and to where do the rest of them disappear?
Seasons greetings to you all,
Malcolm

Thomas & Ann Husk appear to have had other children who were christened there (familysearch)
Sarah 1817
John 1821
Amelia 1825
Elizabeth 1829

Ooops sorry Rosie99,
I forgot to mention them. :-\ They all seem to disappear as well (or at least I can't reliably place them thereafter).
Thank you.

Freebmd only has about a dozen Husk records in total. I tried a search on Ancestry *usk but won't repeat what results I got ::)
Where and when did Mary Ann marry
-
If this is them in 1851, then marriage by 1841, as son born in 1841 at Wincanton
Castle Cary Wincanton Somerset England
James Bond 31 Wincanton Somerset
Mary Ann Bond 31 Fonthill Gifford
William Bond 10 Wincanton
Charles Bond 5
Sarah Ann Bond 2
Ellen Bond 5 Months
-
Yes ChemPat, that is them in Wincanton. :)

I searched ancestry born any Husk born 1800 ± 10 years and there are five main groups of Husks:
- Devon
- Cowling, Suffolk
- South Shields & Newcastle Upon Tyne
- Whitechapel and central London
- East Coast of Scotland
Devon ought to be the most likely source of the family?

Family search has a Thomas Huss in wincanton in 1841

Well this maariage is in Wylye which is four miles north-east up the A303 Turnpike

By Jove, I think you've got it :D
Thomas Huss (1792, Wincanton) married Ann Whittaker (1797, Fonthill Gifford) in Wylye. Their son Thomas (1835, Hindon) settled back in Wincanton as did Thomas And Ann (in Charlton Musgrove - 1861 census).
I haven't yet been able to connect MaryAnn but 've just been told I'm making dinner :(
I will let you know as and whn I make the connection.
My thanks to you all.

Just to keep things tidy... back at the start of this thread I said"

. Well, hang on to your hats!
This Maria is the servant to Jonathan and Mary Vincent (née Whitaker). Mary is the daughter of Thomas and Mary Whitaker of Fonthill Gifford.
Thomas and Mary are also the parents of Ann who married Thomas Huss/Husk who are the parents of the lady in the title of this thread.
simples :o
