Title: Eynesbury parish register look up please
Post by: bedfordshire boy on Sunday 07 December 14 20:06 GMT (UK)
If anyone has access to Eynesbury parish register I'd be grateful for a look up for the marriage of Edward Hull and Martha Pope which took place in Eynesbury in 1811 per Hunts Marriage Index.

I believe this couple had a daughter Martha Hull born 1811-13 in Eynesbury according to censuses, who was my 3xg grandmother.  Is there a baptism for her? (I know from her second, 1858, marriage that her father was Edward).

Many thanks in advance

David

Specsavers beckons you David - the marriage was in 1803 not 1811!

Eynesbury marriage 21 Sept 1803 Edward Hull, bach otp to Martha Pope, spinster of Great Gransden by licence. Witnesses W Dixie & Philip Pratt (who does loads of others, so clerk). The marriage allegation index has it in 1803 but no further detail.

Eynesbury baptisms...
23 June 1811 Edmund son of Edmund & Martha Hull (*)
6 June 1813  Martha daughter of Edmund & Martha Hull, labourer
18 Jan 1818 William son of Edward & Martha Hull (**)

Eynesbury burials...
16 Mar 1811 Lydia daughter of Edward & Martha Hull (nb. no baptism found)
24 Dec 1813 Edward Hull aged 2 (*)
11 May 1819 Edward Hull aged 43
5 Jan 1821 William Hull aged 3 (**)

Couldn't find baptism c1776 for Edward/Edmund Hull in Eynesbury nor are there any Pope names in Gt Gransden

Cheers John

Cheeky ***.

Nothing to do with my eyes.

It's senility, and Specsavers can't fix that. But it's 1803 as clear as day in Hunts Marriage Index, so goodness knows why I put 1811 in my database.

Anyway, thanks very much for checking those out John. Begs the question as to what they were doing 1803-1811, but it looks as though I have a double dead end with the Hulls and the Popes! I now understand why I let this one drop a few years ago. But they are direct line so I ought to make more of an effort!

See you Friday

David
