Title: Help with military uniform of Charles Jones
Post by: auntie bertie on Thursday 11 December 14 11:14 GMT (UK)
This is Charles Herbert Victor Jones.  I know that there is a free service whereby you can send off a picture and they can identify the regiment - does anyone know what that site is please? Otherwise can anyone help with the regiment in this photo?  I assume it is WW1.  With thanks in advance

The Armed Services section on RC is not bad. The bandolier shows he was mounted. Most probably in one of the 'corps' that used horses.

The soft peaked cap suggests middle of the war rather than early on.

Try Ancestry or Findmypast for his record and/or medals. However two-thirds of the records were lost in a 1940s fire.

Ancestry have indexed wives and children so you can also try these names.
