I'm puzzled. I've found a CWGC entry and a photo of his headstone in a Kent cemetery but am unable to find his death registration. Searched FreeBMD and other sites.
William James Murrell (b 1887) died 15 October 1916 and is buried in Frittenden, Kent.
Any ideas as to where I could find a death certificate for him?

Do you know where he died?
That is where the registration will be, even if his body was then brought back to Frittenden to his Mothers, for burial
-
No idea where he died, that's the problem. I assumed it was in England as he is buried in Kent. :-\

This looks like a hospital "batch" of deaths from Lambeth on FreeBMD, age is wrong but ....... in wartime?
Dryden John R 36 Lambeth 1d 282
Hobday Alfred 21 Lambeth 1d 282
Horn William G 20 Lambeth 1d 282
Murrell William 24 Lambeth 1d 282
Old Harvey 26 Lambeth 1d 282

Thanks.........I suppose the age could have been misread from Army records.

Deaths Dec 1916 so the correct quarter

Just thinking he would have been 29 and a 9 and 4 look very similar in certain handwriting so it is possible
-
Still unsure.....his headstone shows initials as WJ and the Army are usually good with details.

Sorry Nanny Jan, not necessarily true, I have Army records riddled with errors as recent as 1986, including vital information like blood group. Also some of my own details are incorrect. Nothing should be taken at face value😱

St Thomas's Lambeth looks the most likely candidate (5th London General Hospital TF)
