Title: Arthur Nicklin
Post by: scoobie2010 on Saturday 13 December 14 03:12 GMT (UK)
Is there anyone that would have any information on Arthur Nicklin. He married Catherine Drummond in 1915 in Manchester. That is all I have. No parents names as Arthur Nicklin is a popular name around this time.
Cheers.

Do you know when and where Arthur and Catherine died?

The most obvious way is to get the marriage certificate.

Have you any further information on either of them, as there must be some reason how you arrived at this marriage?

Do you know if either of them married again, and was Catherine Scottish?

Thank-you

There are no Nicklin/Drummond births showing on free bmd, 1915 to 1930 - was Drummond Catherine's maiden name?

Thank-you for that.

Marriage certificate saves speculation.

LancashireBMD shows they married at Manchester Cathedral.

For some reason, Ancestry's collection for the Cathedral 1754-1930 has a gap 1900-1921.

The 27/04/1918 death was born and enlisted in Birmingham, so unlikely to be him?

Hi, Thankyou so much to all of you who have replied. Catherine A S born was born in 1890 in Glasgow. Her parents are David and Jessie Drummond nee Bishop. They had to other children Peter Robertson and Helen Bishop known as Nellie. I have been concentrating on Catherine as after the 1911 census I couldn't find her so it either had to be a marriage or a death. When finding her marriage to Arthur Nicklin I knew it had to be her as her Aunt Marjory left money to Catherine and Arthur Nicklin, which alone was a mystery until now. So finding the marriage solved that. I think that Catherine may have died in March 1940 according to the death index. But I do not know about Arthur .
If anyone has information on Arthur ie parents that would be great, in the mean time I will keep searching. I don't think there are any children. I might send for her death certificate to see if they were informants.
Once again thankyou to you all.

Meadows married  Nicklin in 1943. On the off chance that they could still be alive I wont put their full names. www.lancashirebmd.org.uk

It looks like there are 3 children from the marriage

I think the best way to find anything on Arthur Nicklin is to send for their marriage certificate which should give his fathers name. Thankyou for everyone's input.
Cheers
