Title: Totally confused
Post by: patvp1 on Monday 29 December 14 23:59 GMT (UK)
David Pitcaithly Mitchell born 08 Sep 1839 according to Scotland People OPR 466/00 0060 0319 was FEMALE daughter of James Mitchell and Christian Ewing, baptised 06 Oct 1839 at Clackmannan, somewhere along the line he/she became Davina ?? and, according to other trees married a John Dodds in 1865.  Am I missing something somewhere.. 1851 census shows him/her as being SON of James Mitchell and wife Christian... :o
Help needed please.
As always thankyou Patvp

Hi ,

There is a Davidina Mitchell(female) aged 2 in Clackmannan in 1841 , parents would seem to be James and Christian.(FreeCEN transcription).

The marriage certificate should confirm her age and parents names.

An 1871 Census transcription has Davina Dodds , with husband John , born Clackmannanshire c1840 , living Saline Fife.

Thank for that - Think I have cleared up the MESS, Dodds was married previously, so first three (I think) were from his first wife?? although all the children claimed Davina/Davidina, etc etc was their mother.  Now just have to work out where to put the whole damned lot in tree on Ancestry, must admit it has been a couple of interesting day, plus money spent on Scotlands People LOL..maybe her name was too long ?? as in David Pitcaithly Mitchell altho' on SP it is still down as that..daughter born to etc etc.
As always Patvp
