Title: Marriage and parents of John Nicholls

Hello

I was wondering if someone could please help me look for the marriage of John Nicholls and Elizabeth Matthews.

They were both born in Cornwall, Marazion, according to the census and had multiple children, John Nicholls, born 1830, Elizabeth born 1834, Rebecca, born 1846, Matilda born 1841, Michael born 1849 and Andrew born 1839.

If a marriage could be found, I may be able to find the parents of both John and Elizabeth.

Their is a marriage 21st September 1828 St Hilary John Nicholls to an Elizabeth MATHEWS

Does the marriage give any hint of parents?

This is them on the 1871 census

John Nicholls    Self    M    66    Penzance, Cornwall
Elizabeth Nicholls    Wife    F    66    St Hilary, Cornwall
Matilda Nicholls    Daughter    F    28    Marazion, Cornwall
Michael Nicholls    Son    M    22    Marazion, Cornwall
Thomas J Nicholls    Grandson    M    14    Marazion, Cornwall

Their eldest child John has the middle name Matthew and the name Matthew is quite common in his descendents, so I guess this was taken from his mothers maiden name

Cornwall OPC has the marriage, it shows the groom and bride bachelor and spinster, both of Marazion. Witnesses Stephen and Joan Matthews.

Elizabeth Nicholls died in March 1891 in Penzance aged 86

Her husband John died in September 1877 in Penzance aged 73.

Their deaths give us at least a birth year for them

Hi again, it could be John or the Cornish Nicholls clan used an alternative spelling, as Elizabeth & family in 1841 look very likely on original as NICHOLLAS?

I noticed that, Nicholls is sometimes spelt as Nichollas

John's birth location is given as Marazion.

This could be a baptism since Ludgvan is 2 miles from Marazion
