Henare Meihana whom is the son of George Mason (of London) and Hemi Watakini Mahaka (Banks Peninsula) married Merika Piakaka and had 2 boys (may be wrong) of Te Whareraki and Te Hiwara.
I am in need of the childrens names, along with wives and all their childrens names.
Thanks
Hannah

Hi Hannah,
Do you know if Henare's marriage took place in New Zealand or overseas? Approximately when would this event have occurred and the children been born? I have not yet located this couple on the NZ BDM website.........

Henare Meihana was also known as Henry Mason if you look at the archways files. Merika is a beautiful name, meaning peaceful and quiet in Maori.
Henare Meihana's coroners report (of 1912) is still restricted access at Archways
There is a Kipa Meihana (also known as Mason) who has an open probate 1982
and
Rere Tawhangawhanga Meihana (Mason) who has an open probate 1982
Maybe looking at Kipa Meihana (Mason) and Rere Tawhangawhanga Meihana (Mason's) probate records in Wellington could tell you something. It is likely their children are still alive, so we can't tell you their names on here
Hopefully a family member will see your post and contact you :)

I think searching the Maori BDM Index microfiche at the library might show the couple. Not 100% sure, but think there is also a Maori Website that has some BDM's on it.

If you look here it says Maori marriages and births weren't recorded until 1911 and 1913

You might find the following link (Varcoe's New Zealand Marriages) helpful when searching for Maori marriages.

Also check the Sir George Grey Collection out on the Auckland Library website as there are Maori Baptisms and Marriages through the Medodist Church that are not included in the collection and which you can send away for it, I did this recently and they can put you on the right track

Are you still seeking this info? I may be able to help :-*

Hi there,
I know 'Te Hikawera Hopene Mason' was born to Merika Pikaka and Henare Meihana (son of George and Mahaka)...
His wife was 'Rititia Nga Taura Te Iringaroa Tainui' I believe.
I dont have any other information on the other siblings.
