I Have been given a photo of my granddad (john m Metcalfe) he was in the army The photo says Jack which he was know as in 1940 at Sidi Bishi in 1940. I can not found Sidi Bishi was it a battle Sandy

There was an army camp at Sidi Bishr in Alexandria in Egypt.

Googling "Sidi Bishi" raises lots of entries, some relating to WW1 as well as WW2.
Seems it is a suburb of Alexandria and may be the same as "Sidi Bishr". Both were the location of depots and unit HQ's.
Do you know what unit John was in at the time ?

Royal Northumberland Fusiliers ?
The 1st Battalion was in Egypt 1939 to late 1943 (see entry under "List of Royal Northumberland Fusiliers battalions in World War II" in Wikipedia.)
