Title: Lavendon Removal Orders
Post by: martinsbox on Monday 16 February 15 19:42 GMT (UK)
I am visiting the records office this Saturday.
Other than obtaining copies of two baptisms, marriage banns and marriage.

Robert Johnson Baptised 6 December 1733 Lavendon.
Catharine Johnson Baptised 13 September 1767 Lavendon.
John Cook & Catharine Johnson Marriage Banns 9 March - 23 March 1788 Lavendon.
John Cook & Catharine Johnson Marriage 12 May 1788 Lavendon.

I hope to see the Removal Order from Lavendon for John & Catharine Cook of 1788 and of a William Cook (possibly his son), later in 1819 from Lavendon also.
Both John & Catharine ended up in Bletsoe, Bedfordshire. William either ended up in Bletsoe or Melchbourne (I think).
I payed a visit to BLARS, but have not found a Settlement for any of them.
What other records at Bucks Record office would help me find out their reason for removal and date of removal.
Thanks, Martin

You may be able to photograph the removal orders on payment of a permit. Some record offices allow it. Compact digital camera but with flash turned of and sound down works wonders. Check the website for details, also check opening times etc because a lot now have reduced opening hours! They may only bring the documents out at certain times. Alot are half day of a saturday and so are only open a couple of saturdays in a month.

Having never viewed Removal Orders, what detail is shown in them, for reasons of removal etc?
