These are my somerset surname interests.
ROWSELL
BAKER
BONNETT
I am happy to share my info
-
Are your Rowsell family related to the Rowsell family who run the farm in Rockingstone area of Pontypridd today.
I believe the Rowsell family are related to my Boyce family of Pontypridd via marriage.
I am led to believe a Rowsell daughter married one of my Boyce relatives.
Do you have anything on this.
All my Boyce family were from Ditcheat and Evercrech areas of Somerset.

Hi
Most of my family are from and still are in Pontypridd. An uncle of mine does own a farm but i must say that i have never heard of rockingstone in pontypridd even though i have lived here for 23 years. I would be happy to share what i have though and see if there is a connection
-
The are jknown as the Rockingstone is above where the old round houses stood.
The Rowsells farm is up above them on the mountain side.
Towards the old Cottage Hospital is Rockingstone terrace and this is the area many of my Boyce relations came from.
There is a massive stone on top of the Ponty Common which is the Rockingstone. It is situated opposite the Hosital.
I have family relations up there known as the Follett family as my Granchers sister married Walter Follett although i dont actually know where.
But i am lead to believe that the older woman named Rowsell knows a lot about the boyce family connections.
All the Boyce family in Wood road , lower alma tce and Rickard street are my relatives. My dad came from Upperboat.
i would be grateful of any info which i could pass on.

After you e-mailed yesterday i went to talk to my mother and ask her if she knows about it. My uncle own's the farm up on the common. My family including myself are from trefforest also. My grandfatehr owned the forest hotel pub on wood road and now my cousin who owns the farm up the common has the pub.
Are you from pontypridd yourself. When i get home this evening i will send you what i have on the Rowsell's
-
Julianne,
no i myself am not from pontypridd.
I was born in the Cynon Valley and moved to Bridgend two years ago.
although i still have many relatives living in the area from my tree.
these include the Boyce's from Wood Road, Lower Alma tce , Rickard street,Phillip st and Hopkinstown .
Aswell as the Follett family up the Common
Members of the family were in the Salvation Army in Treforest. The main one being Granny Boyce { Elizabeth Jane Boyce nee Hunt }.
i have seen a foto a few weeks ago and a female from the Rowsell family was on it. She was pointed out to me. Thats how i know there is a connection to the Rowsells and the Boyce's from the Common {The Rockingstone}.
I do not have a copy of the foto yet as the relative is getting me a copy from his nephew who lives up that way.
Would appreciate any info.
i am on Aol under the screen name Boycefamilytree.

P.s are you the Brian that Dave Boyce was on about
-
That I am.
-
Julianne,
i have been talking to 3 Brians recently to do with the Boyce research .
Even i get confused to which one i am talking to sometimes.
Two are Boyce relatives and another is a researcher who has helped me with a few things.
thanks to them all.
David Boyce
-
Sorry for the confusion.
I am the researcher who has helped a with a few things.
I am a follower of the"The Great" Max Boyce. So any thing to do with him, I am there.
Brian
-
Brian,
I have been to Max Boyce's home to talk about the Boyce family research i am doing and he was pleasantly surprised with all my findings. Max was given a copy of my research data.
I have done the Official Boyce family history for Max.
His Grandfather came to Pontypridd around 1890 ish from Somerset.
This is where all my family came from aswell.
Trying to find the link to my tree is getting hard because of the listing of his grt grandfathers parents at the moment.
I have officially taken fotos of Max Boyce's family bible which his aunty has at the moment. I am the only person to have seen it.
This bible info was transcribed by me and all the previous research checked and was found to be correct.
So there is a small gap in our relation but we will find it soon.

I found out that Jackie Rowsell who now has rockingstone farms grandmother was a boyce, she married a Thomas. He was a bit vague last time i called. It may be better if you write to him instead. I will more than happily give him a call again and see if i can get anymore info
-
if it was Thomas Albert Boyce and was also the brother to Margaret Ann Follett nee Boyce who lived up the rockingstone , He would have been my Grandfathers brother Tom.
the Boyce siblings were
Margaret Ann Boyce married Walter Follett.
Thomas Albert Boyce - no other info yet
Sarah Elizabeth Boyce - no ither info yet
William Boyce Married Mary Jane Wrench {my nan + granch}
Walter Boyce who died in 1925 and was a miner living Oakview
would appreciate it if any of the birth marriage or death certificates could be found for me to copy.

Hi
I'm interested in Bakers from Banwell and Wedmore. Are these your Bakers?
Kelly
-
Kelly,
The Baker family names are not my direct family relatives .
but there are connections to a Baker family with Julianne Rowsell.
I am not aware of what the connections are and where the Baker families came from myself.

Hi,
I have Rowsell as a surname from Midsummer Norton.
best wishes
Anne
-
Hi Annie
My Rowsell's are so far mainly from Paulton. I would be interested to see what you have though.
Many Thanks
Julianne
-
My Rowsell's are quite a way back and information taken from the roots web site Somerset Coalfield connections not my own research.
My grandmother was Louisa Blacker from Midsummer Norton and her Great grandmother b1797 was Anne Rowsell married to Alexander Kingston. The name also seems to crop up with sibling marriages e.g. Joseph Rowsell married Elizabeth Withers.
My greatgrandmother was Ann Whithers who married Robert Blacker in Paulton although the marriage does not appear on the Somerset coalfield connections site.
I find researching Midsummer Norton the same surnames keep cropping up.
best wishes
Anne

hello. I believe that a Benjamin Joseph Rowsell married a Elizabeth Baker in 1847 Yeovil. Does this correspond with anything that you know.
Thanks

There was a marriage between a Baker and a Rowsell on 29 Dec 1831 at St Ann's Limehouse, London. That was Evan Edward Rowsell (1804-1875) [son of Samuel Rowsell] and Anna Maria Baker (1808-1893), They later moved to Godalming in Surrey. Their daughter Rosalin married John Wolfe barry who built Tower Bridge

I realise this is an old thread but for what it is worth to anyone
Thomas and Hephzibah ROUSEWELL had a Henry baptised on Christmas day 1821 in Paulton he married Hester BAILRY on Christmas day 1839 and they had: Thomas 1820,George 1842, Hannah 1844 and Martha 1847 . Hannah married George PERRY and Martha married Lewis Carter in 1866 in Paulton this couple moved to Wales about 1871 the last of their 8 children was born in mountain Ash in 1884.
Is this any use to anyone here?

Ann Whithers who married Robert Blacker in Paulton
These are in my data too they married 8 Jun 1867 in Paulton and had 8 children 6 in Paulton 2 in Midsomer Norton. His younger brother Edwin married Sarah Jane CARTER in 1871
Edwin's parents were Edwin and Sophia nee COLBORN.
Hope that helps a bit too
