Title: Lucan Land Society
Post by: iem on Monday 23 February 15 15:57 GMT (UK)
1. Could anyone advise as to what the Lucan Land Society was please?
2. The Irish Petty Sessions Court Registers for Lucan summonses 8th Apr 1850, show a Wm Magrath of Dublin & a Christr McClean (Wm's father-in-law I think, or maybe brother-in-law) of Lucan summonsed by the Rev Henry Stewarts[?], Treasurer of the Society, for not paying the balance of monies due dating back to 1844. (They weren't the only ones - quite a few more).
Is anyone familiar with what this was about?
(The only other info I have is that McClean was a Smith & Freeman by service & Magrath was a Law Clerk & Freeman via marriage to McClean elder's daughter, but this may not be particularly relevant!).
Thanks

Just looked at the court entry and I read it as Lucan Loan Society not Land Society.
