Title: Shipping Arrivals in UK from Australia
Post by: janjim on Thursday 26 February 15 22:13 GMT (UK)
Hi,
Wonder if anyone could assist me please.    We have found our G Grandmother Maria Cox b. 1834 arriving in Australia in December 1855 with her brother George Francis Cox on board the "Kent", at Port Phillip Bay.

However,  she must have stayed only a few years in Sydney, as by 1863 she had married in London.    We have not found her in UK in the 1861 census, so sometime between 1861 and 1863 she must have returned to England.

After her marriage, her husband died, and within 2 years, Maria (now Saunders) and her young child,  returned to Australia where she remarried to a William George Todhunter.

Looking forward to any assistance please.

Regards
Jan

UK Incoming Passenger Lists only survive from 1890.

You need to concentrate your search on Australian records?

Okay thanks for that KGarrad.
Will see what we can come up with here in Australia, not looking good though.

Have you looked in TROVE?  Sometimes in the Shipping News in SMH, they give passengers' names.  A long shot but you may be lucky.
