Have hit a wall with David Armstrong thought to have been born around 1724 Kirkleton Dumfries. He married Margaret(Peggy Buncle) in 1752 in Middlebie.
No trace of birth is Scotland People. Found 2 Armestrang births in 1712 &1713 but but that would have made him 101 when he passed away in 1813
Can anyone help please, its driving me made

Hello, David Armstrong of Kirtleton is my 5th g. grandfather. He died 11 Nov. 1813 in Dumfries. His father was William Armstrong (1662-Aft. 1724) William was a merchant traveller (or chapman) in South Britain as a younger man. I don't know for certain who William's parents were, but I have some ideas on that.
In 1717 William married Agnes Bell in Dumfries. Agnes (1672-1688) was the daughter of Richard Bell of Blackethouse and Mary Irving.
David was a very interesting guy! We have lots on him, including things that he wrote. He had Kirtleton because his wife Peggy's parents had owned it earlier. I come down from his oldest son William who joined the British Army and settled in New York after the war.

Hi Ed--
I'd be happy to do so. I'm in the midst of exams right now and quite busy. I should be more free after 18 Dec. Maybe we can talk by phone on or after that date.
