My great great uncle Frederic George Quarry, (who served in World War One) moved from Hertfordshire to Ripley after the War . He lived at 9 Providence Street, Ripley but later died on 27 December 1921.
I did a search to see if I could find where he was buried and came across these websites about war memorials -
http://derbyshirewarmemorials.wikispaces.com/Ripley
and
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DBY/Ripley/war_memorial.txt
On the first website it lists "F G Quarry" and on the other it says "F C Quarry",
Now, Quarry is a rare name and I am wondering Is there any further information that will help me prove/disprove if this is my ancestor? Also, where he could be buried?
Thanks in advance

FindMyPast has Frederick George Quarry on the Derbyshire registrars index.register office Amber Valley(Ripley)

Hi
Thanks for that. Would like to know where he was buried - and would like to be sure he is the same F Quarry as on the war memorial.
Thanks again - and any help appreciated.

Possibly buried here:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=1972392
You could try a photo request and a local might be able to physically find his grave (only 25% of the cemetery has been photographed)
I say Belpher cemetery because there is an 1821 death for Frederick George Quarry registered in Belpher district (he was 37 so born in 1884)

Hi
Thanks for that, Whiteout7 - I will certainly follow that up. Knowing my luck, there may be no headstone, but I will see what I can find.
Much appreciated!

Hi,
Would NOT expect a resident of Ripley to be buried in Belper Cemetery, unless there were
connections to Belper, which in this case does not appear to be the case.
The death of Frederick G Quarry, is Registered in the Belper Registration District, this includes
Ripley as well as many other places. It is not an indication as to where burial took place.
Connection to Ripley Cemetery:-

Hi,
Amber Valley Borough Council, would supply you with information about the burial plot
in Ripley Cemetery - However the cost is about £25.
Also just realised how close to Providence Street the Cemetery is:-

Hi
I have now received a reply from Derbyshire Record Office. Frederick Quarry was buried in Ripley Cemetery - grave number 190. The interesting thing is that he is in the same grave as Percy LAMBERT, who died 1919. His wifes sister married a Lambert, so another line to follow.
As to the war memorial, I have contacted the Derbyshire war memorial website and have supplied information about Frederick, which has been added to the web page.

Thanks to everyone here who has helped, also the Debryshire Genealogy Facebook page. Your assistance has been greatly appreciated.
Now, more lines to follow up!
