Title: Gatehouse of Fleet
Post by: michelew on Saturday 07 March 15 14:21 GMT (UK)
My great grandmother Jane (Jennie) Hewitson (various spelling of surname) came from Gatehouse of Fleet in Kirkcudbrightshire,.     She was the daughter of John Hewitson and Jane Bryan

Jane Bryan also spelt as Brian - had several siblings -  as had Jane Hewitson.
If anybody ever spots anything for these families in this area - such as headstones, can you forum it please.    I have photos of old Anworth cemetery from a visit but never found anything with these names -  any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to locate burials for several of my ancestors who lived in Gatehouse of Fleet.
They died in the mid to late 1800's -  I have checked the usual sites for Hewitson burials and found none.      Other relatives named Bryan are in the Anwoth Old and New Cemeteries.     Can anybody help me with likely burial grounds for the Hewitsons.

Thanks  Michele

There were Hewetsons not so far away in Penninghame / Newton Stewart, don't know if they were yours though. Some are buried in Clachan of Penninghame.

Hope this helps
