I am hoping that you can help to confirm that this photo is Netta Jean Williams born in 1894.
She has written to my grandmother Enid Grace Vincent who was living in Bairnsdale until 1913/1914.
I possible I would love a restore, colour of the photo.
Thanking you for your time and expertise.

Edwardian I think - depending how old she is in the photo - maybe early teens do you think?

And the back

What a lovely photo. :D
Tidy from me...colour to follow after a cup of tea! ;D

Gee Wiggy you were quick. i hadn't got the back of the photo on in time. I am struggling with the time. Mrs O Williams was Enids grandmother. I can't remember the conventions for the early 1900's, would they address the mail care of Mrs O Williams if Mr was still alive? He died in 1910, Netta would have been 15/16 then. Don't think she is that old in the photo. Wish she had put the date on the card.
She looks so much better without the splodges on her. Thank you for that.

Thank you Cazza that is lovely. Enjoy your cuppa.

I've been reading up about dress/skirt lengths and it says
"young girls' dresses were usually made to around knee length and were loosely based on the smock shape introduced during the 1890s although they might be caught in around the waist or hips. . . . Older girls wore longer, calf-length dresses and left their hair loose . . . . . "
That's why am thinking maybe she was sort of early teenage. :-\ :-\
Jim and China will know! ;)

I agree Wiggy. In the beginning I had thought she was perhaps 13 to 15.
-
It would have been taken before 1915 as that was when white borders appeared on postcards for economic reasons during the great war.
Be aware though that this might not be Family as she does say that she is sending this "Towards her collection"

Thanks for your thoughts Carol. I should have said that by 1914 Enid had left Bairnsdale as she married early 1915 and had been working in Melbourne before her marriage.
-
I have many photo postcards of people sent from various locations and the photos are not always relatives of the sender or of themselves....If they are of themselves there is usually some reference to that in the writing.... people collected them and she says this in her short note.

I realise that Carol which is why I am trying to date the photo to see if the timing fits with her age. I had sent the photo to someone who is more closely related to her than I am and knows her son, but she didn't reply to say if she thought it was her or not.

And the colour.

Just a tad warmer.

Thank you Cazza, you have brought her to life with your colouring. Love the frame too.

Hi........My interpretation of your lovely photo, you must have a wonderful collection.
Carolyn :)

Thank you Carol for your beautiful restoration and colour.
I am lucky that I do have some photos of my mothers side, although so many have no names on them and that is frustrating. Why wasn't I interested when my mother was still alive? Everyone I come upon with links to my family get inundated with photos and 'do you know?' No luck yet.

Thank you Cazza, you have brought her to life with your colouring. Love the frame too.
You're very welcome. Such a pretty girl, hope you can identify her.
I have a ton of photos from my own family and they very kindly named all the photos of non relatives, so at least I can deduct which ones are relatives. I suppose they assumed that other family members viewing the photos would know who they were and never dreamed that 100 years down the track people would be trying to identify them! : ::) :) :)

I'd say between 1907 and 1915 by the back, not sure about the front but those huge hair ribbons were de rigeuer right around then.
Cheers,
China

Thanks for the dates China. It fits in with what I know about the family, which admittedly isn't much.
Caz I agree that they wouldn't have thought about naming the photos. I never did until I found these and started trying to work them out. So little was talked about in those days to children and we moved around a bit and my mother lost contact with her family so I never knew any of them.

Over two years later and I have just had it confirmed that it is Netta. Hooray.

Better late than never!! :)

Thank you Pablo, lovely colouring.

Great to see that Netta is now confirmed, Nanna52. And, of course, moving her photo up the board means it is fair game again for the restorers. ;D
Cheers, Peter.

Thanks Peter lovely work. It was never my intention to get more restores. I was just so excited to finally find someone who could confirm that it was Netta that I had to share with those who understand my feelings.
