Hi,
I am looking for any information on FENNELL's in WALES in the 1700's. I have no information on where the above person may have been in Wales, but apparently he left for Wexford, Ireland. Was it common for the Welsh to migrate to Ireland?
Grateful for any information.

1789 should be 1798. (1798 Risings in S.E. Ireland and in the West of Ireland, led by United Irishmen.)
Not sure who you mean by "The British newcomers" and what connection it has to topic title.
William Fennell, subject of the enquiry, was born c1770. He would have been in his 20s in the 1790s. It's possible he joined army or militia or navy and was sent to Ireland. This was era of war with Revolutionary France. There was risk of invasion by French. Prolonged unrest over several decades in Ireland and martial law, requiring large numbers of troops to be deployed.
