An 1850's-early 1860's ambrotype.
Many of these were hand-tinted & you can just make that out in this.
She looks unmarried as there doesn't appear to be a wedding ring on her left hand.
The reason for this is that ambrotypes are always a reverse image.
This is how she would have posed.
A very nice photo.
