He was born out of wedlock father unknown. Ellen married William John Jones in 1912 and it was told that Manley had drowned before that date. He is on the 1911 census age 2 living with his grandparents George Holder and Elizabeth Holder at Howells Terrace Monnow whilst his mother Ellen is living with her grandmother at Hill Cottage, Walford Nr Ross. We cannot find any reference to his death. Any info would be much apprieciated thankyou. We have his birth certificate.

Freebmd shows Manly - does birthcert say Manley?

In the absence of a death record - I wonder whether his death was made up and that he was actually adopted at some time

Yes I would question that too, he may have been adopted out of the family and even had a name change.

Having said that if grandparents had him under their wing, hard to say maybe they passed on and he was adopted then :-\

Hi RayDen

Rootschat has a "no living persons" policy so the names/details of anybody who could still be living should not be shown here
