Hi,
I wonder if someone could decipher the photographer's signature on this portrait. I believe it's his last name. The photo was produced at the Garo Studios, Boston, MA c. 1903. Here is the full photo on the Photo Restoration board:

Thank you!

Sorry, I think I have double posed this query. I was having trouble attaching the image, so I must have posted one without knowing it.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm trying to find names of photographers who worked under Garo.

Hi Phenmark
Why not contact the National Archives at Boston? http://www.archives.gov/boston/
I'm sure there will be a photo archivist there who will be familiar with the Garo Studios and may have other examples of this signature with which to compare. Or someone will be able tell you which archives hold the Garo Studio collection.
They may even have some biographical information about the photographer.
Good Luck

Could it be a portmanteau word using Garo and Studio giving GARST?

Thank you Venelow and Forte,
Great tip about the archives. I could even go there myself, as I am only 15 miles away.
Very interesting theory about the portmanteau name. I'll update soon!
