Hello!

is anyone able to help me?
Thanks in advance x

A tree on Ancestry has a photo of a gravestone, which mentions:
Arthur James Cain, 1914-2005
Winifred Cain, 1913-1922
Arthur Frank Cain, 1879-1960
Minnie Cain, 1879-1971
Is this the same chap?
No ;D This one born in Bedfordshire! ::)
Alfred's mother was probably a widow when she married Mr Cain?
So the marriage will be under her married name?
The best solution is to buy Alfres's birth certificate, which will mention both mother's and father's names.

There's a marriage between Charles CAIN and Mary Ann HORNETT ???
on A*try. 24 Nov 1895 St Andrew, Haverstock Hill.
She's a 21 yr old widow-father is Charles BASS.
They do seem to be in St Pancras in a later census.

There's a marriage in March quarter 1913 between Alfred Cain and a Maud M BEAL in St Pancras
But also a birth 1929 of an Alfred J CAIN mothers maiden name BEAL just to confuse things.

The surname i am looking for is definitely Bass. I also doubt they would name 2 of their children Alfred J when the first Alfred survived?...

Just wondering about your info for Frances. Did she not marry?
Devon seems such a long way from home for the Pancras crowd. :)

Who did Alfred name as his father on his Marriage Certificate?
-
If you take the 1895 marriage and have George born 1913 as eldest child that means a gap of 18 years before they had children, and then they have 1 a year for next 3 years.
Very often mistakes with transcribing names means looking for similar names. My g-granny has a different surname in church record and civil record and the vicar was registrar for both.

scrub 1913 marriage Maud was born a BEAL

Frances did marry to a Baker and died in Torbay a few years ago.
I havent seen the actual marriage certificate but from the 1911 census it looks like they had a total of 11 children with the above 4 siblings being the last to be born.

Um-Only because mmn wasn't added until (foggy brain) late 1911?
If it's the family I was looking at.......wow....there were many children.
Probably wasn't the point you were making :). Sorry.
